Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 By the Clear Book, 2 We have made it an Arabic Koran in order that you understand. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you, for that you are a prodigal people? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
