Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
