The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
