۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In gardens of delight, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
