The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
