A multitude of those of old 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 They had been affluent before, 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Do ye create it or are We the Creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Behold! the water which ye drink: 68 Is it you who cause it to descend from the clouds, or do We? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
