The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
