The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they differ? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
