The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
