The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
