A crowd of earlier generations 39 and a good many of later times. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 [They will find themselves] in the midst of scorching winds, and burning despair, 42 Under the shadow of thick black smoke 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Have you considered what you sow? 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 If We willed, surely We would make it chaff, so that ye would be left wondering. 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
