The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
