The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And shade extended 30 And water gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
