The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
