He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 Olives and dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
