The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
