۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 on couches facing each other. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
