Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 a divine writ, the messages whereof have been clearly spelled out as a discourse in the Arabic tongue for people of [innate] knowledge, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 And say: "Our hearts are immured against what you call us to. There is a deafness in our ears, and a veil lies between us and you. So act (your way), we are acting (ours)." 5 Tell them, (O Prophet): “I am only a human being like you. It is revealed to me that your God is One God; so direct yourselves straight to Him, and seek His forgiveness. Woe to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity, 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail. 8
