The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 Defeated have been the Byzantines 2 In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious. 3 Within a few years. Allah's is the command before and after; and on that day the believers shall rejoice, 4 In the victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 5 (This is) Allah's promise! Allah will not fail His promise, but most people do not know. 6 They only know the palpable life of this world, and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 7 Ponder they not in their minds: Allah hath not created the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain save with a purpose and for a term appointed? And verily many men in the meeting of their Lord are unbelievers. 8 Have they not travelled through the land to see how terrible was the end of the people who lived before them. The people who lived before them were stronger than them in might, in tilling, and in developing the earth. Our Messengers came to them with clear miracles. God did not do an injustice to them but they wronged themselves. 9 Therefore evil was the end of those who did evil, for they denied the signs of God and made fun of them. 10
