The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
