The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
