Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
