The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
