The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
