When Abraham said to his father and his people: "I am rid of what you worship 26 Save Him Who created me, for surely He will guide me. 27 And he made it a word enduring among his seed, that haply they might return. 28 (Even when they began worshipping others than Allah We did not destroy them) but bestowed sustenance on them and on their forefathers until there came to them the Truth and a Messenger who clearly expounded things to them. 29 And when the Truth came to them they said: “This is just sorcery and we reject it.” 30 They said, "Why was this Quran not sent down to one of the great men of the two cities?" 31 Will they distribute the mercy of your Lord? We distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We j have exalted some of them above others in degrees, that some of them may take others in subjection; and the mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass. 32 And were it not that mankind would be one nation, We would have appointed for those who disbelieve in the All-merciful roofs of silver to their houses, and stairs whereon to mount, 33 and silver doors to their houses and silver couches on which to recline, 34 And ornament of gold. And yet all that would have been but a provision of the life of the world; and the Hereafter with thy Lord is for the Godfearing. 35
