Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
