The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
