Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 Little of the night would they slumber, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
