The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
