The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
