The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
