This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 We have never been unjust to anyone. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 And lower thy wing (in kindness) unto those believers who follow thee. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every great accuser, extreme sinner. (The magicians) 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley? 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
