A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 "Follow what has been sent down unto you by your Sustainer, and follow no masters other than Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind! 3 How many a city We have destroyed! Our might came upon it at night, or while they took their ease in the noontide, 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; 6 With knowledge We will narrate to them, for We are never absent. 7 The weighing on that day is the true (weighing). As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the successful. 8 but he whose scales are light those have lost their souls because they were harmful towards Our verses. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10
