There is a sign for them in the lifeless earth. We revive it and We produce grain from it of which they eat. 33 and produced therein grains from which they eat and established therein gardens of palms trees and vineyards and have made streams flow therein 34 So that they may eat of its fruit; yet it was not done by their hands. Then why do they not acknowledge thanks? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs its course for its final destination; this is a command of the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 And the Moon,- We have measured for her mansions (to traverse) till she returns like the old (and withered) lower part of a date-stalk. 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 And a sign to them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship. 41 And We have created for them similar ships, in which they now ride. 42 And if We will, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout (or helper) for them (to hear their cry for help) nor will they be saved. 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 And when it is said to them: Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that mercy may be had on you. 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 And when it is said to them, “Spend in Allah’s cause, from what Allah has provided you”, the disbelievers say regarding the believers, “Shall we feed these, whom if Allah willed, would have fed? You are not but in open error!” 47 They say, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They await just one scream, which will overcome them while they are involved in worldly disputes. 49 Then they cannot make bequest, nor can they return to their own folk. 50
