Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By the luminious Book. 2 that We sent down during a Blessed Night. We are ever warning. 3 On that night is made distinct every precise matter - 4 The command that We have been sending 5 As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, if only ye would be convinced. 7 There is no god but He. He quickeneth and causeth to die: your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Aye! they're in doubt sporting. 9 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke, 10 Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 How could this punishment bring them to their senses when a Messenger evidently had come to them, 13 Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!" 14 [Still,] behold, We shall postpone this suffering for a little while, although you are bound to revert [to your evil ways: but] 15 on the Day when We shall seize [all sinners] with a most mighty onslaught, We shall, verily, inflict Our retribution [on you as well]! 16 ۞ We tried the people of Pharaoh before them: a noble messenger was sent to them, 17 "Give in unto me, O God's bondmen! Verily, I am an apostle [sent] unto you, worthy of trust! 18 And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant. 19 I have taken refuge in my Lord and your Lord against your stoning me to death. 20 If you do not want to believe, leave me alone". 21 And he called to his Lord, saying, 'These are a sinful people.' 22 (He was told): “Set out with My servants by night for you will certainly be pursued. 23 And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned." 24 They left how many gardens and fountains, 25 and sown fields and splendid mansions, 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 Even so; and We bequeathed them upon another people. 28 And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. 29

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
