The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
