The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He has created man: 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
