And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
