The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man. 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
