The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
