Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave a little, then stopped (giving)? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 and Thamood, sparing no one, 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 and caused them to be covered with that which He covered them with. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
