Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 no caring friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
