Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 behold, We have caused it to be a discourse in the Arabic tongue, so that you might encompass it with your reason. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before. 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
