The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
