The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And by oath of a passage, written 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and the sea that is full 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
