۞ Say to them, (O Prophet): “I give you but one counsel: stand up (for heaven's sake), singly and in pairs, and then think: what is it in your companion (to wit, Muhammad) that could be deemed as madness?” He is nothing but a warner, warning you before the coming of a grevious chastisement. 46 Say, "Whatever reward I ask you (for my preaching) will be for your own good. No one can reward me except God. He is the Witness over all things." 47 Say, "My Lord speaks the Truth. He has the knowledge of the unseen". 48 Say: The Truth hath come, and falsehood showeth not its face and will not return. 49 Say: "If I am in error it is to my own loss; if I am on guidance that is so because of what my Lord reveals to me. He is all-hearing and all-too-near." 50 IF THOU couldst but see [how the deniers of the truth will fare on Resurrection Day,] when they will shrink in terror, with nowhere to escape - since they will have been seized from so close nearby 51 and will cry, "We do [now] believe in it!" But how can they [hope to] attain [to salvation] from so far away, 52 Seeing that they did reject Faith (entirely) before, and that they (continually) cast (slanders) on the unseen from a position far off? 53 And between them and their desires, is placed a barrier, as was done in the past with their partisans: for they were indeed in suspicious (disquieting) doubt. 54
