He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And hath fear, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honourable pages. 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
