The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
