The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 purify your garments; 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
