When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear and take heed?" 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they shall slay me. 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 Go, then, to Pharaoh and say to him: 'The Lord of the Universe has sent us 16 [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'" 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!' 19 Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message). 20 “I therefore went away from you as I feared you – so my Lord commanded me and appointed me as one of the Noble Messengers.” 21 "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." 22 Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" 23 He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 Moses said: "(He is) Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore." 26 [Pharaoh] exclaimed: "Behold, [this] your 'apostle' who [claims that he] has been sent unto you is mad indeed! 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 Said Firaun, “Then bring it, if you are of the truthful.” 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
